JIN CANRONG

An associate dean at the School of International Studies at People’s University (Renmin daxue) in Beijing, Jin Canrong is a specialist on United States foreign policy and diplomacy, and American politics. A graduate in political science from Fudan University in Shanghai and with a Ph.D. in American studies from Peking University, he worked at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) from 1987 to 2002, in American studies and U.S. foreign policy, and was a visiting fellow at the Gerald Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan from 2003 to 2007. The vice president of the China National Association of International Studies, Jin is also a member of the Policy Planning Office of the National People’s Congress (NPC), the highest legislative body in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Author of many articles and books on U.S. foreign policy, including a translation of On Diplomacy by Henry A. Kissinger, he has participated in events at the Brookings Institution–Tsinghua University Center and the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he is an agenda contributor.
